1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information

When you create an account, we collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us, such as your name and email address. We use Google Sign-In for authentication, so we receive your basic profile information from Google.

1.2 Audio Data

To provide pronunciation feedback, our app requires access to your device's microphone. When you record your voice:

• Your audio is recorded locally on your device.
• The audio data is transmitted to Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services for the sole purpose of analyzing your pronunciation and generating a score.
• We do not permanently store your voice recordings on our servers.

1.3 Usage Data & Crash Reports

We may collect non-personal information about how you access and use the app. We use Sentry to collect error logs and crash reports to help us improve the stability of the application.

1.4 Conversation Data

When you use the Exam or Practice features, the text transcript of your speech is processed by Google Gemini API to generate conversational responses and evaluate your language proficiency.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain our app.
• Authenticate your identity.
• Provide pronunciation assessment features.
• Improve, personalize, and expand our app.
• Find and prevent fraud.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase: For authentication and database services.
• Microsoft Azure Cognitive Services: For speech recognition and pronunciation assessment.
• Google Gemini API: For generating AI conversation partners and evaluating language proficiency.
• Sentry: For error tracking and performance monitoring.

These third parties have access to your Personal Information only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

4. Data Security

We value your trust in providing us your Personal Information, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

5. Children's Privacy

Our Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.

6. Your Data Protection Rights (GDPR)

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights. Echo Deutsch aims to take reasonable steps to allow you to correct, amend, delete, or limit the use of your Personal Data.

If you wish to be informed what Personal Data we hold about you and if you want it to be removed from our systems, please contact us.

• The right to access, update or to delete the information we have on you. Whenever made possible, you can access, update or request deletion of your Personal Data directly within your account settings section. If you are unable to perform these actions yourself, please contact us to assist you.

• The right to object. You have the right to object to our processing of your Personal Data.
• The right of restriction. You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal information.
• The right to data portability. You have the right to be provided with a copy of the information we have on you in a structured, machine-readable and commonly used format.
• The right to withdraw consent. You also have the right to withdraw your consent at any time where Echo Deutsch relied on your consent to process your personal information.

7. Account Deletion

You have the right to delete your account and all associated data at any time. You can do this directly within the mobile application:

• Open the Echo Deutsch app
• Navigate to the settings or profile section
• Select "Delete Account" and confirm your choice

Alternatively, you may email us at support@iamhong.com to request account deletion. Upon deletion, all your personal data (name, email) will be permanently removed from our database.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
